On The Poetry of Pablo Neruda

Reduce the poetry
the downstream flood
of the man
to an equation
of mathematics.
Call it the real
reality.
Professor discard
your formulas.
Watch as his ode
breaks from the loam
of nervous dreams,
of history,
of love,
of death.
It reaches like
a hungry hand
for the space under
your nothing.
Note how the smallest
number on one side
equals the larger sum
on the other.

Breathe.

    Clever

An almmost cerebral poem, thoughtful and sensual, with some very tactile phrasings. Poetic devices used with cautious and calculative flair. As Neruda, there is a realtime feeling to the poem, and a beautiful freshness in expression:

    Watch as his ode
    breaks from the loam
    of nervous dreams,
    of history,
    of love,
    of death.

It is very auditive and dramatic.

this is a magnificent poem, sunny, and a wonnderful tribute to neruda. he was so much - a man, a diplomat, a statesman, a spokesman, a latin lover, and above all - a poet. I love how you've summed him up like a mathematic formula because perhaps that's what needs to be seen - the science of pablo, the great poet who mastered the art of letting us feel, see, taste, smell, and hear with his art.

I love neruda. he's among my very favorites. I love how he leaps, crafts, paints with words as pehaps no one else can. and I just love your pablo poem! bravo!

    Endless

God's exhale is my inhale and any poem of love exhaled is a motion from God to know the light shining in darkness...but not just the light...but the invisible (but spiritually realized) love that is only secondly known by the mind (for feeling is indeed first). and the darkness comprehended it not. I've known the Iris of God, too, and where others see air...we see what we are. Breathe...
