Dear Mum,
When people look into my eyes they see you,
I’m the mirror image of your beauty shining through.
I have your personality so kind and down to earth,
And your tender heart which I’ve had since birth.
I’ve inherited your characteristics in every way,
I can only hope to be half the woman you are one day.
You think of everyone else’s happiness before your own,
You have always been there for me as I have grown.
You’ve been my shoulder to cry on when I was blue,
When there was something wrong you always knew.
When I needed help you were just a phone call away,
You picked up the pieces you knew exactly what to say.
Being an only child was hard you became my best friend,
With you I could be myself I didn’t have to pretend.
All my life you have had me on a pedestal high,
Your love has always been an endless supply.
Thank you for molding me as a mirror image to you,
You’ve shown me a mother’s love and friendship is true.
Today I wrote this poem for you to celebrate Mother’s Day,
To show you how much I love and appreciate you in every way.

The whole "mirror image" thing was extremely touching, because it shows that you are just like the person you looked up to the most. This was a great write that touched my heart, and I was very appreciative of the good grammar and rhyme scheme. Best of luck in the contest and thanks for entering!
