Reaching beyond bipolar, I am alive and in your face --
ever mindful of how far I've come, and how far I need to go.
Carrying on, in spite of what happened to me,
or maybe because of it.
Victory over wildly swinging moods and acts of self-destruction,
empowered by my circle of support and my faith.
Reality is that day by day, I am a survivor,
you cannot stop me now -- recovery depends on me.
Author notes
I chose the word "recovery". I am in recovery from bipolar disorder, among other things, and chose to do an acrostic about it.

One day at a time--though an AA term it applies to all sorts of recoveries. My mother suffers from bipolar so I can understand this piece and appreciate your determination. Keep your faith, through God all things are possible and we are never alone--fair

And penning a peice like this is also a major step in recovery... I too have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and my life was in shambles for many years... the mood swings and in my case I tried to drink the pain away (alcoholism), but now... being grateful, giving thanks and taking it one day at a time helps me to stay on track! Thanks for sharing this ... you did justice to the word you chose and I know it is not easy putting it out there for the world to read, but it is indeed a healing process and penning helps a lot!
Thanks for sharing and my best to you always
Blessings

Very good
I'm not sure what bipolar disorder is, but I understand the process of recovery ( in my case alcoholism ), so your poem struck a chord with me. Very well-written and powerful poem. Good luck in the contest.
All the best,
Bad Bill
