A Working Man's Peace

Missing image
You were never much for names,
as so many of your creatures
speak without tongues,

sharing
messages left
in worlds of solitude,

leaving praise for answers
hidden from those
who might betray
the smallest flower.

My canyon's singing stones
have remembered music from
three billion years of vespers,

and a trillion
sacred
sunset
washings.

I want to thank you.

In my only smile
I am raining
in your miracle.

My first light
of dripping cloud words,
watches drops freeze
to soul suspended,

I ask your help
in the presence of my
childhood's last callings.

Those who know they are lacking
seek the truth of silence,

and something of sanctuary
and cascading candles,

flickering flames,

to ignite a humble view
in the quest for a working man's peace.

You have promised everything
and have asked only that I participate
in your creation's calling.

My eyes have learned to touch
the songs my voice tastes
in your silver shadows.

You are ever present,

and as I go from hope to disappointment
and back to hope,

the love you have painted
in Nature's crown of words
has made this journey possible,

made this journey
a joyous agony,

as I seek between the lines,

the soul I find.

Author notes

I am a Christian who carries who has a strong spiritual base in Nature, and in the methphorical meanings that parallel
truth you find in Nature.  I see the gospel in the season and the laws of Nature, and in doing so my faith is continually replenished.  Every sunrise is a second coming, and every sunset, another ascension...and the stars are becaons of hope in prayer...as well as diamond worlds to dream of forever, in a place of Heaven's inspiration.

This poem was a beautiful passage through nature's wonder and how the soul sees and embraces it. This piece made me think of all the parallels between human spirituality and kindness and that of nature's beauty.
