Forsaken

For the sake of face
For the sake of wealth
For the sake of pride
But never will the white house work
For the sake of us

Author notes

I wrote this because I think that all of our government's problems come from an obvious source: poor motivation.  If they were working "for the people" and didn't have to worry about the media, or their career, our leaders would be much more productive.

Amen!! I could not have said it better myself. I don't see your view as skeptical as much as real. Great write and good luck in the contest. Take care!

I note that you have a very skeptical view of the government, blake! Not a bad thing, it really fuels this, and the short, succint-ness is very wonderful, and the fact that you change the way the 4th line is done makes me look at it.

    Keep up the outstanding poetry.

that is so true... this was really so good... you have proved that even such writes on social issues can be light to handle, yet to the point.. yeah the whole thing of 'of the people, by the people, for the people' so nicely taken at.. to just make a point clear.. all governments. even in india are so.. now the state elections are on here... it is such a big joke.. where you have people campaigning saying that they will give a tv free for a vote... lol.. anyway really good write... thanks for the entry. good luck . regards sam

This is good! I love it. Of course, anything that provides hatred to the US Government is good to me.

    I'll talk to you later,
