Come to fairyland, come today
come to fairyland, so we can play
There's so much magic in the air.
Can you feel it? Can you hear?*
Reach out your hands in front of you
I'll grab them both and pull you through!
To fairyland, yes, me and you
and you'll become a fairy, too!*
We'll ride red dragons (our favorite pets)
we'll catch magic butterflies in our fairy nets.
They'll glitter and glimmer with fairy light,
close your eyes, and you'll see them tonight...*
We'll dress up all of the unicorns,
we'll hang fairy bells on their spiral horns.
Fairies love music, yes, we love to sing,
just breathing a song makes the fairy bells ring!*
With beautiful fairy dolls we will play
with Kirsten and Kaydyn and Uncle Dave!
Aunt Katie will bake fresh fairy pies
as big as grandmother's moonlit eyes!*
Patches and Toni will follow us 'round
the fairy mountains, way up and way down,
we'll find Mr. Bear and the invisible mouse
who watch over the big blue fairy house...*
Then all of us can stop and sing 'Hello'
in ten fairy languages
to all the small fairies in fairyland.
With you as my fairy, life is wonderful, grand!*
When the night turns cold, we'll return home
with all of our animals, and all of our friends,
you'll fall asleep in your fairy bed
with the enchanted fairyland caught in your head...
*Well connect our dreams
at the ocean's shores
you'll be in my dreams,
and I'll be in yours...
*
Fairies, fairies, everywhere.
I'll say, "Hey! That one's Jaelyndancing over there!"
We'll wake up fresh from our fairy dreams,
and jump back into fairyland all over again...!*
So, goodnight to you, to your fairies as well,
and the dragons and unicorns of your Great Aunt Bel!
Author notes
OK, Bel, I sure hope Uncle Dave doesn't mind playing with dolls...!
Note- I had to add the asterisks between stanzas because AP's Rich Text Editor destroys all line and word spacing created outside of it... and it is very uncooperative with line and word spacing created within itself...

My dear Wayne if anyone could create the most perfect piece I knew you could. Just when I think you can no longer surprise me you always manage to pull out an ace of pure and utter beauty. This will be a piece that not only my niece will enjoy but the entire family as well. I cannot thank you enough for this contribution

Very imaginatic. I liked the flow of the rhyme too. I really like the whole fairyland idea. You have a great sense of humor. I read your whole page before I actually clicked on one of your poems. I'm glad I clicked on this one. It's great. Good luck in the contest that you have entered. TempestAira
