Awas (Silver)

a’hkosiwak, they are sick
kiki’wa’n na, are you going home?
You have gnawed long enough
and now chase each other off

night eats the world again
continents shrug against the coasts
oceans of vigorous tongues
lick the bones of multiculturalism

Comprendez vous  qu’appelle?
Usted?  Istipatibeyo?

swallowed whole, not a stone for grit,
so stuck in craw of causal acquaintances
we choke on the persons in our throats

gluttony is a sin, you say, crossing yourself,
like some Heimlich maneuver for holiness
but you pull skinned carcasses to you
to feed the fields, you fools

teeth and claws, stopped ears,
hung hearts building bridges,
erecting eviction notes on immigrants

The real people, bury your bones,
kayas, awas, moonyas,
nimin~o-aya’n

We, the people, are the earth,
long ago, go away, big nose,
I have recovered.

Author notes

Immigration notes......
"Comprendez vous  qu’appelle?
Usted?  Istipatibeyo?"

Do you undersand who calls?
You?  All my relations?

wow... I am back again and drawing new pictures in my head here. One disadvantage (but maybe it's an advantage) is that you can't post more than two poems a day if you don't pay and if you don't gush beyond 100 characters to write a comment that "counts" (LOL)

Sure sounds like you was, for sure. What a contest idea - hostess with the mostest - host with the most? Unique to say the least.

Being of the divine sisterhood of the clueless, I have to tell you I thought and wondered and then said "what the heck," and wrote.

Such cacaphony about who should be and who should not...prejudice simply does not give way...ownership by the white winged birds gets only greedier. Sigh.
