All through my lonely life
There has only been one
He has walked by my side
And been in my mind
On a pale horse he rides
Down from wherever he goes
He puts an end to woe and sorrow
And makes room for new life
Come and meet him with me
You have nothing to fear just yet
If your time hasn't come
Then Death is your friend
Death is not as cruel as you think
For he guides the weary of life to sleep
He takes us all by the hand
Bringing us over the line trough the door
I have walked by his side my whole life
He makes no sound but rattle and clack
And though his hand is smooth cold bones
With Death by my side, I'm never alone
Patiently I do wait for the day
When he will take me away from life
Escorting me to my first and last dance
Where at last we are parted when I go home
Author notes
Yes this is a personal poem for a reason. You don't need to know why though. Not yet anyway. ^_^
The last stanza was partially inspired from a book called 'Reaper Man' by Terry Pratchett.
But unless you've read it, you won't get it

It's awesome. This one is my favorite poem about the subject of death. Death is always our companion and at last we all have to embrace her, I'd say with a smile
