I watched, from my window, as the world was cleansed today
Each raindrop seemed to have a purpose as it touched the earth
Was the way a drop touched a flower, meant to be a kiss?
A gentle kiss for a love so long ago, or was it a tear for
The beauty of the memory?
Looking into the depths of the puddles
I see reflections of times long ago filled with
Tears of both sadness and joy
Each splash becomes a different and cherished chapter.
The pattering of raindrops sound like footsteps
Some entering and some departing
I feel the coolness of a drop on my face
I feel it turn warm as it rests on my skin
Like the fingertips of a lover tracing the outline
Of a face that will be forever etched in their heart
After a good rain, the world is clean of all that was dark before
And it leaves a rainbow to build new dreams on

This was fresh and inspiring. I like your style on this piece. I enjoyed how it spoke to me and about a subject that comes down from such great heights to rest on us; to sink in and replinish. And in some cases, as you mentioned-to cleanse this earth...a clever reflection on a majestic wonder. Great write.

This is so enchanting. I loved the metaphor about a rose petal being a kiss. Very nicely done. I like how at the end you offer us a rainbow which only brings more hope. Great job on this.

Amazing and lovely pace with the linking together and progression of deep musings inspired by such a simple occurence. I love the comparison of lovge and sadness and the hop seen in the end..for in both, this may be evident. Beautiful imagery, a masterful construction of a lovely poem.

Thank you so much for your critique. I was just sitting at my window watching the rain and it all just came to me.

I really liked this poem; it seemed to "speak" to me. The imagery is very well-done, especially the 10th and 11th lines.
