It was the Valentine's Ball
You intrigued me
with your platform shoes, long hair, velvet get up
and Philosophy
Degree.
I asked you to dance
while Deep Purple moods
infused
and destiny's sardonic smile
widened smugly to a grin.
Had we forseen the years ahead
trapped like butterflies together
in a jar
in love
in hate
would we have parted
when the music stopped?
Impossible to know.
Intense love, intense pain
but not half love
or half life
Now, growing old apart,
had we the chance
to dance once more at
the Valentine's Ball
would we?
Author notes
This may be a short poem but it was a long and turbulent relationship.

This made me remember way back when....thanks for the reminder. It does not take a novel to create a masterpiece does it? Robi

You give a sense of impending doom from the start. I like the subtle tones and the way you make it feel good and bad at the same time. It was an enjoyable piece. Well crafted and lots of detail in the absence of certain details.
