Faerie to the Child

Faerie to the Child

On yesterday and days to come
Sh'sha comes each night
Her tiny wings a gentle hum
As softly she alights

To a touseled curly top
The cradle faerie creeps
Her magic dust the crying stops
And leads the child to sleep

From a silken sash is hung
A sack of lull-a-bys
And as each soothing song is sung
The toddlers tears she dries

On whispered wings she sweetens dreams
Then peacefully slips out
And leaves on cherub lips it seems
A wistful, blissful pout

On the morning, on the stair
Rubbing sleepy eyes
The child won't know that she was there
So Sh'sha smiles and flies

The name occured to me as the "shhhhhhhhhh" sound one makes to soothe or quiet a child. I wasn't sure that that would come through. I hope it did. Thank you for your kind comment.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I'm glad you liked this poem. Didn't mean to invade the sandman's turf... just turned out that way. I think faeries get along with most folks anyway, he probably won't mind a helping hand.

    This was really cute,
serene in many ways the imagery I got was of an
little Angel perhapes watching in the night..

What a nice and sweet poem Sam. I like it very much just because, it's very hard to explain, maybe just because I like fairies or fairy tales? This verses sound so peaceful and full of promises. Invisible fairy's traces are always somwhere close to us. We just need to open our hearts to see and to listen their wings around.
