Killing and Dying

See the smoke above
Smell the blood below
Share their sorrow
Suffer their pain

The satisfaction of killing…

Sounds of explosion
Sense of tension
Sea of fake faith
Self is thy savior

The satisfaction of dying…

Is it for the glorification of God
Or for the gratification of self?

This is the world now.

I reslly like the last line. It sums it up perfectly, this is what we've got now, for whatever reason, we must now live with it.

This was very powerful, short lines that said a lot within them.

It asks why they do this, whihc is the optimum question really, what does drive people to this?

A great poem, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for entering and good luck!!

It's certainly an intriguing piece although I have to admit I do not see it as simply as this - partly as different cultures place different aspects on death and dying and one philosophy I find particular intriguing is that of the Japanese samurai of previous centuries where when one dies is is for neither of those things and to an outsider it can seem even more pointless.

Thank you for the wirte and thanks for the comment on my piece.

Great, great poem. You look at war as it is (both in medieval times and now), death and destruction that is both selfless and selfish at the same time. I like your style a lot, too. Great work, keep it up, good luck in my contest,

    Priess Issilya.
