Two wild ponies,
a long green meadow.
As silken chestnut gods
they run, as twins, to greet me.
Flags high in the morning sun,
wild eyes brightly dancing
breezing welcome songs
laughed high with recognition;
soft muzzles nuzzle for reward
making chesty ocean sounds
begging my arm’s blessing.
They love attention, I laugh,
knowing it is the orange root
they covet most, each press,
nibbling my weathered hands;
playfully searching.
To linger here, amid this meadow’s joy,
has been too brief as the day calls me on.
So I mingle my breath with theirs,
whisper my grateful heart
into the morning sky
and name them;
Love and Life.

Can I go there to that field of green? I think I have just been! Georgeous text. And I didn't miss the meaning of Love and Life. One without the other doesn't make sense. I could almost hear the snuffling sounds and smell the earthy smells of a meadow in the sun. I am lifted in spirit by these words of green. I think I need to ask...how did you come to choose the name astralshepherd? It suits you well.

Dear Friend,
This is so lovely. I smiled all the way through this poem. The background/border is cheery.

What a beautiful image to use, twin horses as the embodiments of love and life. I think this definitely puts a fresh perspective on spring and the invigorating feelings we all get from the season. I have loved horses since I was a little girl and took my first ride atop a pony. The experience was so...wild, and I admit I was a bit apprehensive at the time, but later it becaome such a freeing experience. Here, you have made these ethereal creatures majestic, as if all we must do is to gaze into their eyes to find the truths we seek.
What brilliance!
Hope you are well these days.
Many blessings,
