I remember it was tough growing up as a child,
The days when I wanted to give up and act wild.
But you protected me every time I felt incomplete.
You’d never let me down or even crawl into defeat.
Even the days when I had to run and hide.
When I just could not trust any other.
There was still one place for me to confide,
In the loving arms of my mother.
And even though, sometimes I acted crazy.
I still praised the Lord that you made me.
There are just no words to express how I feel.
And how lucky I am to witness a love so real.
As there is no love enough for me to give to you.
However much I feel, there still should be more.
From all the love an angel choir might sing to you.
It would never even make it halfway up that shore
Cause’ there’s no way I could pay you back, I know I never can.
But my plan is to show you that I understand…
How grateful I am for my life and how you made it,
And just how much you are adored and appreciated.
I carry your love in my every breath and every sight.
You’re what has made my life so very bright.
You’re the only one I’m with whenever I’m alone.
You’re that place in my heart, which I call home.
You are the sweetest woman and most delicate of all.
A better mother than all the rest.
You know more of paradise than angels can recall.
Of all the people I know, you are the best.
You’d never complain from how bad the situation was.
You’d bear through it all just to provide for us.
And working with the everyday scraps you were given.
You made miracles no matter where we were livin’
There were times you’d work late and come home.
No matter how tired you were or how bad you’d feel.
Not once did I see you sit or stand around and roam.
I saw you in the kitchen trying to fix us a hot meal.
And there’s no way I could pay you back, I know I never can
But my plan is to show you that I understand…
How grateful I am for my life and how you made it,
And just how much you are adored and appreciated.
Though, I’m sorry for all the pain I brought on
And causing so much drama.
Cause’ whenever things went wrong
I seemed to blame my mama.
I can’t begin to imagine how it felt to be in your shoes.
And how you acted so cool like there was nothing to lose.
Despite knowing that your times were very rough.
Cause’ raising three kids must’ve been very tough.
And this time I’ve finally come to understand,
Even though there were times I treated you mean.
That for a woman it isn’t easy, trying to raise a man.
And for that you are and always will be my queen.
From all the times I was hurt or in grief, I could come to you.
And you would give me the support that would get me through.
No matter how much friction there was or drama,
I knew I could always depend on my mama.
But there’s no way I could pay you back, I know I never can
But my plan is to show you that I understand…
How grateful I am for my life and how you made it,
And just how much you are adored and appreciated.
But from all the stress I created, I do regret.
I know for you it was a nightmare in hell.
But you still loved me in a way I’d never forget.
And always picked me up every time I fell.
No matter where I was you were always there.
With all your tender love, concern and care.
Even when I felt that I was lost, hated or hopeless.
You would say the words that would get me back in focus.
Even when I try to go back in time,
And picture the sweetest face.
There isn’t a woman alive
That could take my mama’s place.
Every single one of all my childhood memories,
Are full of all the sweet things you did for me.
Even when I was sick as a little kid.
To keep me happy there’s no limit to the things you did.
There’s just no way I could pay you back, I know I never can
But my plan is to show you that I understand…
How grateful I am for my life and how you made it,
And just how much you are adored and appreciated.
Now I wish I could go back and take all that pain away.
But if you can make it through the night there will be a brighter day.
I know everything will be alright if we just hold on.
I know it’s a struggle everyday, but we’ve got to move on.
And turn each day like the days from our happy years.
To bring you the joy you gave me, without any tears.
Or even the days when I felt my life wasn’t worth while
You were still the only source that could make me smile.
Yes, you’re the only one who found me when I was lost.
You were the only one who was there for me at any cost.
No matter how busy you were, you’d always give me your time.
No matter how ahead you were you’d never leave me behind.
Oh I wish I could just give it all to you.
Even if I did all the things you needed me to do.
Or even give you all the things you gave me.
And be the great man that you wanted me to be.
There’s still no way I could pay you back, I know I never can.
But my plan is to show you that I understand…
How grateful I am for my life and how you made it,
And just how much you are adored and appreciated.

TRUTHWRITER !!!!!!!!! -
Very well written poem, with wonderful sentiments expressed in these lines. This contest does require only three kinds of form poetry - the alliterisen, a quainzaine or a cinquain. Please enter one of those if you can. This one might fit better into one of the other Mother's Day contests up and running just now. Thanks again, and good luck.

Astounding, Touching, Intense & Extraodinary
Now you made me cry!! This is for sure the most heartfelt poem to a mother I have read! It springs from the deepest place love can go and you just said it in the most astound way. Your mother should be proud! I so resonate with these emotions, as I feel the same about my mom! Wish I could wee her more, my parents moved 1000km's away 2 years ago...so this poem has made me miss her, miss her to tears!!! Amazing poem! -
simply beautiful
what can I say, there arent alot of sons out there who would express themselves in this way about their mothers.. I thought the poem expressed the emotions well, and u always do that so well..i hope u know that.. becauz i always start feeling ur poems!! i must say this is an excellent write..and i am not just saying that.. although it is lengthy i didnt feel it was too long, i know u were worried about that.. it is a fantastic piece and i think all of us think of the sacrifices our parents made/make for us while reading this.. -
