America The Melting Pot

I believe in America
And all that it can be
A melting pot of people
As far as you can see

We differ on almost everything
but that’s our strength you see
For everything has merit and
truth is what we seek

Stand tall stand proud
regardless of whom you are
Because you are American
know doubt you can go far

Yes we’ve struggled and suffered
and we’ve felt the pain
But the truth is world
just look at what we’ve gained

We’re not perfect nor are you
but we do learn fast
American’s a shining light
and the footprint has been cast

    True

Yeah people always ask what is american and what's not. But american is a composit of other cultures. American would suck if we didn't have all the different cultures that make up our country. Things like Hip-Hop music, Fast Food Chinese resturant and latin music are just as american as apple pie.

    P.S.

I am new to AP, and would love if you could check out some of my work. Any comments or suggestions would be very much appriciated.

Much love 2ya and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

My favorite: "We differ on almost everything

    For everything has merit and
    truth is what we seek"

Truth has never been written so well. Beautiful.

mmm got to admit i give it up for you 'stand by me america' yeah we are all different but all the same Dont know if i agree with all you have said....old GW is just i do mean only very recently agreeing the war in iraq hey the good old u s of a is not winning...doh!... That was faster than a speeding tortise while the rabbit ran away with the spoon. You are proud of your country as you should be and for all the people involved in your wars i send a single of peace.... i can honour them but not the politics behind the reasons.you have penned a tribute what you have to work with is flawed no more or less than any other country.....just a shame that the leaders believe in their own hype and dont listen to the people like you who have a love deep and profound for your homeland a little more.....they lose the respect you have earnt in blood and tearsfor that i am truly sadyou write so well with much thought an pridethe last line very moving and deeply challenging.

It is good to see someone so proud of their heritage and homeland and still brings home the fact that all people do not hold what the government tells them to be true but can indeed hold true the fact that as an American you enjoy freedom and the right to vote and speak without fear of opression. As I in Australia do have faith in the great country we live in and the people within it.

I share that pride in America and being an American. I coem from a military family ...my father, four uncles, husband, son... and some of them have seen war and people who are much less fortunate than we are, as Americans.

We take way too much for granted. We may be 'hated' by many people of the world, but we have what many want... freedom, the opportunity for prosperity and the pursuit of happiness.
This is the reason for our country becomeing that melting pot you speak of.

Your poem is to be commended for it's frank and apreciative words. And the hope it holds for all.

This is another good write and it is obvious that you have a very deep love of country> But more than that you have something to compare it too which many who have not traveled do not. Fine work. RC

I believe in the people moreso, but then again that is what makes up America I suppose. Well done.
