The stuff of nonsense

I must confess I don’t profess
To be a poet grande'
Though if in some small way I find
I’ve entertained a kindred mind
I'll be smiling all the way to Cuckoo-land

My chosen use of word abuse
Is scrawling thoughts that rhyme
Constructing certain stanza-schemes
And narratives of strange dark themes
BUT tempered with a grin from time to time

I’m no Carroll, Lear, or Edgar’s peer
A Wordsworth, Hughs or Shaw
So though my words may seem absurd
And strange when uttered or referred
It's just the stuff of nonsense NOTHING more

ah, gotta love a nonsense poet. Better not to take yourself so seriously, I agree - poetry is about play to a large degree.

    Purposeful

I liked the poem for its easy flow of lines, for a simple but fascinating diction, and above all for its theme in the first stanza. Words have tremendous impact on human beings. It is, therefore, the responsibilty of a writer to use words in the interest of humanity. Words are a powerful weapon and they should be used properly for the promotion of human values. We must beware of the artists who use this weapon to spread evil.

At least in the first stanza, your poem is highly pursoseful. Keep it up, my dear!

Thank god, finally something real because it's real. Not because of your self conception. this was a great read. I'd like to see more.
