Sonnet of the Knife

If in all my wandr'ings I had found you,
Would you send a small ripple through my life?
Leave a fingerprint so I know you're true?
Well, would you? Now with me I hold a knife,
Crafted from years of cold cynicism,
As I wade through marshes of wicked sneers;
And with this silver steel mechanism,
With quick feet I greet my foes and my peers.
You can lower my cursed unstained blade,
Replace that grip with your warm hand in mine.
We could love and let all wickedness fade,
Into the dark abyss of endless time.
Would you send a small ripple through my life,
If accident slashed your heart with my knife?

Author notes

This is a sonnet about a thought about my someone yet again...

btw- my someone I always refer to is no one I know now, it is my love I have yet to meet.

I was thinking- what if I meet him, but my habitual cynicism about relationships gets in the way and I reject him? That's what the last line referred to in case you were wondering.

Metaphor:

Knife= my cynical thoughts when affection I recieve occurs. I am SOO affectionate and love it, but at the same time, I am always over thinking the affection I recieve.

Unstained Blade= refers to how never have I "stabbed" anyone yet because of this cynicsm although I see the sad potential there... actually maybe I have? I'll think about it and change it later if need be.
