One Day

Falling
Forever grasping
My arm out
Waiting to be caught
Wishing to be saved

I’ve fallen too fall down
To be saved.
So now I must save myself.

But what’s the point?
When all that will happen,
Is I will get thrown down again.

Maybe one day,
I can bring them down with me.
And so give me a purpose to exist,
Other than to gain strength.

One day,
I will not fall,
But grab the ledge,
Knife in hand
To stab them in the back
To make a change,
Switch the roles.

One day,
I will know before even they,
And so I can prepare,
Before they knock me down.

Maybe one day,
If I ever get back up
From this,
An eternal abyss.

I do not like this poem. Not because of some literary infraction or poor grammer. No, this poem, quite frankly, scares me. It provokes fear in me. And if it can provoke such an emotional response it deserves to be applauded. Well done.
