I badly want to write a poem.
I’ve no idea what to say.
My muse has left me all alone
And I would hate to sound cliché.
Bordering on the abyss
Of “norm” for many a poets theme
I’m not the first to write like this-
A sleeping poet with no dream
But the urge to write has grown so strong
By common sense it’s not denied
Though my heart is in it, my mind is gone.
No topic, theme, or tone supplied
Writing is giving, but I’ve nothing to yield
Well, that’s not *precisely* true-
By donating my ‘nothing’, my ‘something’’s revealed.
I’m dividing my writers block up among YOU!
…That’s breaking new ground! I’m no longer bromide!
An avant-garde alternative to inspiration
Why wait for your thoughts and words to collide,
When you can sub-contract your mental frustration?
For passing my condition to you innocent readers,
Accept my apologies- if you must harshly critique
Just remember I started sans goals, thoughts and meter
and thanks to you all, received something unique.
Author notes
"writers block" poems have become too common.
I realized I had writers block one night, but felt a desire to write something original. But what to do with my writers block!? ...an idea struck me...
