I met my best friend at a very young age. We were just kids and we were inseparable for several years. He cherished me. He added to me in so many ways. He was the perfect gentleman and friend. However, time brings change and for many years we went our different ways. Then, as fate would have it, this person resurfaces. There is no way I could have known then the journey that I was about to take.
One sunny afternoon as I was taking my daily walk home from school; he approached me and offered a very cozy ride. My acceptance was immediate. This time around there was something quite different, something special. How can I describe finding out for the first time that you are desired. Amazed by the chemistry and interesting conversations this ride home turned into a daily routine. Later it evolved into weekend outings to see the latest movies. This was such a wonderful friendship. It was the beginning of something very beautiful.
My best friend was and still is one of the most loving and caring people that I've ever encountered. Being impressed each day his kindness and sincerity caused me to change. I admit my make over was slow but worth it. Smiles are easy when I'm with him. Now fifteen years later I still get giddy when he takes me out on a date. Nothing has really changed only now we wear rings.

Aww, this is sooo beautiful! I love a love story, and I also believe that friendship is the most important foundation for love and marriage. How lucky you are to have found such joy. A really beautiful story you have written here. Living it must be equally wonderful. Blessed be.

This is so beautiful, and it truly gives meaning to the word love. Being in a serious and loving relationship myself it really made me smile knowing that it is possible.
Congratulations on finding your soul mate and your best friend. Great poem as well

Thank you for your comment. Poetry is written in many formats and sometimes as with this case one may choose to create a format. Its mearly an expression of your thoughts and feelings. These are my feelings, I wrote them from my heart.
I didn't really pay attention to format at the time.
