apartment

a baseball game
wafts in through the hallway-
the crack of a bat
and the gospel hush-
an announcer raises
his voice

above the street sounds
beyond the reaching white
curtain,
down the zigzag fire escape-
churning motors
and lungs-
chatters and shrieks
bumping bass and horns
bleating

but in the dim living room
an electric fan grinds out
stillness-
a woman and a man
sit together and share
a beer from a jelly glass
while folding laundry

As a jelly jar drinkin', laundry foldin' son of a crack head grandmother,
I find your double use of the term Rebel repulsive.
You, sir, are more poodle lipstick than rebel,
    perhaps a poodle

    more to the point!~)

Aww, this is absolutely sweet! I feel cheered just from reading it. Ordinary life is pretty poetic stuff. This is a fine example of that. Write on!

Sounds like paradise. Happiness can be found anywhere for it comes from within. A beautiful painting you have created here. Thank you. Keep up the great writing.

I like this poem, it reminds me of an Edward Hopper painting, it has something urban and dusty about it, something reminiscent and thoughtful.
