An Easter Message

Missing image

My dear Lord Jesus, (HE DIED) for my fatal flaws.
When all was blackness and death (FOR ME),
I called out His Name.
I said,
"Jesus save me from my sins,
Release me from the bondage of self.
Make me a new creation.
Exchange this rotting existence
with a better way of living."

My dear Lord Jesus, He heard my cry.
He reached down and lifted me to Him.
Now (I LIVE) not for my vain desires,
but now I live (FOR HIM).

HALLELUJAH!  JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN TODAY!

Author notes

"Easter" means my life in Christ Jesus.I celebrate this new life in Him every day - not just one Sunday out of the year. He is awesome!

Lovely work. I've grown up in a Christian home, so sometimes it is difficult to feel any real awe over Jesus' death and resurrection. This does a wonderful job of emphasizing the wonder of Jesus' mission. Good work.

You stand where Jesus' witness is concerned. How wonderful is THAT?

A great tribute to what has happened in order that we might live. I don't know how I missed it so long before. I guess it was like history. I wasn't interested until...........well, in this case, until I was really 'called'.

What's so NOT EVERYTHING about someone who was prophesied to come 4000 years or more before he came
who was destined to fulfill the needed sacrifice of
all iniquities and sins of the fathers? What is so insufficient of the Persian invention passed to Rome's superior use of the tantamount execution for the worse crime ever...................?
If one looks at just the bible history's revelation, it's only a 'yes or no' away from getting to the whole truth, the ABSOLUTENESS of life as we have it.

Thank you for sharing this and intriguing those of us to know that it is the truth of a lifetime of 'knowing' the actual Creator, and also a promise of ever after that NO philosophy of mankind can give.

    Well stated!

I'm counted among the 're' living! The Lord will certainly bless you for this!

You certainly did a agreaet job with this poem - loved the picture and how youused that message in the lines of the poem - stressed with capitals. Can see why it won a silver and a HM in the two contests - very to the point, with such a strong message. Where did you get the poster used for this poem from?

      Thank you so much!

This was the picture that was shown on the contest page last year when I wrote this and entered it. But if you like this as a poster, you can find it at http://www.christianartforyou.com/ for purchase. I do not know who actually created it.

God is so great. Have a truly blessed Resurrection Day! Because He live we can face tomorrow!

Jesus is smiling. This is so sweet and just such an awesome tribute to the one who deserves it the most. Thank you for writing a poem that reminds us of why we celebrate Easter. You are awesome. Do you know, I used to work in a Behavioral Hospital for teens. These kids were the worst of the worst. They came from very sad home lifes and this was their last chance before going to jail. Some of them had actually killed people. Some of them had been prostituted by their own parents for drugs. All of them had been abused in one way or another and most of them had abused someone. They were so lost. I loved those kids. One Easter we played a game. I brought a basket of chocolate eggs and we played a trivia game. It was about how to deal with feelings in an appropriate way because that was what we were really focusing on. At the very end, I asked who knew what Easter is celebrating. And do you know, not one of those 12 kids in that room knew. I got answers like "Jesus' Birthday." Nobody knew. That kind of says it all doesn't it?

Lovely meaning and one in which I am in total agreement. However, the form of the poem is a bit too free verse for me to call it poetry. I did not feel a rhythm as I read. God bless and write on.

The message within the message, within the poem makes this a great piece. It has a better working for me than say an acrostic. The didactic form in this case comes across very evenly as personal and evangelistic. Sometimes we are too preachy and sometimes the message is lost to personal thoughts. You pulled both together without over riding one for the other or offending even the non-believer, while exhorting the believer to remember why we live in Him. Thanks for sharing this very simple and spriritual work. RC

This is so wonderful! Easter is the time for celebrating the return of Christ, and I would be happy to see that happen. I went to see my therapist yesterday and noticed she had a Christmas tree up with Easter eggs all over it. Hmm. Sad. Love, Patricia

    Excellent

Sis, this exquisite piece is not only well-written but also clever in that it delivers a message within a message. Fantastic! Like you, I celebrate our Lord's life, death and resurrection every day; after all, Easter is a pagan festival, a floating holiday whereas Christ's resurrection does have a fixed date following Passover.

If the host is seeking the perfect poem reflecting Christ's resurrection, this one is it, hands down!

Lots of love and hugs, SisB♥n

I tremble to think of what would become of us if there had never been an Easter. It is still unfathomable to me how our God could sacrifice His own perfect Son for sinful, corrupt and undeserving man. I am just soooo glad He did and I've been graphed in-PTL! Easter-indeed a new beginning.
    Wonderful message, Joanne!
