At The Crossroads

Missing image

We perceive enlightenment
from a shadow~strewn path,
pursuing grandeur with passion unmatched
by starlight's echoing dance ~

we stumble in valleys of our own demise,
cursing the mountain
we eagerly seek ~

there is an easier way
to reach the subtle embrace of Truth,
if we'd only open our dreaming eyes
to the glistening horizon ahead...

If we'd only quiet the whispering defeat
that edges its way into consciousness,
perhaps we'd find our journey
to be one of pleasure,
not pain...

We ponder our existence
with ingratitude on our lips,

instead of allowing Life
to filter through our aching Souls...

    Emotionally Expressive

An aspiring poem and profound in its simplicity. You have taught me so much about thinking positively and to meet any challenge. That we are capable of accomplishing anything we truly desire, if we put the effort and work into obtaining it.

"we stumble in valleys of our own demise,
    cursing the mountain
    we eagerly seek ~"

    So True!

    Awe-inspiring write, Scribe.

    Inspiring.

Yep, that just about says it. We are guilty. Some of us valley livers need to belly up to the mountain and give it a climb. We should stand defeat on its head. And be inspired to meet any challenge. Who wants to go first...I will follow.

Very beautifully penned. I particularly liked this line..."If we'd only quiet the whispering defeat
that edges its way into consciousness"
It speaks to me of the subtle difference between a good choice and a not so good decision. A very strong message, written with eloquence. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

This is wonderful! Nice language, and a great description of how we all get so superficial and crazy. I really liked this; especially the line "whispering defeat"... very nice! Keep up the good work!!!

    Beauteous!

Amazing! Your phrasing on this is wonderful and so true! It seems at times that we get so caught up in the superficial, fleeting joys that we do "curse the mountain we so eagerly seek!" This really touched me, and I love the picture and the background as well! Also, happy early birthday! Good luck in the judging, as for me, I kneel humbled by your grace!
