Wishes Restrained

The desolate Soul am I
Who dares believe he can fly

My twisted mind tells the being
That no man can truly soar
Yet my worries which immensely commence
Pound only my own self into the floor
Dreams of perfection, of things I am longing
Are beaten down, thrown around
As if to me, not even small trophies belonging
Excessive hope, monstrous need, steaming wants
Cause these wishes toward me to taunt
For never in this disputing life
Has there ever been relief of strife
Unselfish is my heart, only longing to be whole
Forgive my desires to fill such empty bowl

For the Desolate Soul am I
Who dares believe he can fly.

Author notes

Nice thoughts makes readers to stop and to ponder between each line. Also very sad and real. Nice work.

Wow! Very good. Incredibly desperate, and so dark. But a wee bit of hope at the end. Daring to dream is the only thing that saves us from reality. I love it.

Don't we all feel like this at times in our lives - never feeling good enough, beating ourselves down for whatever reason? Dare to dream, yet at times we give too easily. Without that goal to strive for we sometimes do nothing but become drepressed. Really we are just angry at ourselves. Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm, I have heard it said. Good write. Glad to hear you no longer feel this way now.

I am always so frustrated when I find old stuff that is not dated, it is amazing when some of them still have some relevance while others are not you at all. I like this piece, some of the rhyme is a little "tense" at times in my opinion, but it is well-expressed.
It is awesome that you are still writing, and this is a cool thing to find. The best advice I ever got was to always keep all of my writing!

Very nice pic and lovely well written poem. I do believe however the best road to travel is the road of acceptance of oneself for yourself. That perfection road can be fun but never ending and quite hurtful at times. Good luck in your life quests and keep up the beautiful writing that expresses your wonderful soul in such a rich way.

I like this a lot. Picture even goes really well with it; kind of visually describing a state of mind... Well articulated; with simple yet massive wording. Very nice... I'm liking you more and more!!!

    Wings of fire.

This Poem proves that you are already flying in soul.the desire to reach and fulfill your dreams and ambitions is woven well into the imagery.Your cup already runneth over and "I beleive you can fly"
    Elegant and inspirational.Elizabeth.

I think what I get from this is that you are not good enough, not worthy enough, but at the end of the day, when you push away all the crap, you can and will actually achieve something "For the Desolate Soul am I Who dares believe he can fly". Am I right with my interpretation - very powerful, very good.
