The New World

Wrap yourself around me
Hold me close to you
We have no king here
That would be plain wrong

All worms equal here
In our world of darkness
Squirming through the dirt
Charting a new course

The bugs are our friends
No worm would think ever
To hurt another creature
And the birds are gone

Humans not around
Nothing beyond dirt
It's a whole new world
The world of worms

Good point that you have made here ellis. We treat animals, especially bugs as dumb and useless and kill them at our whim, but they would never consider killing another animal like we do humans. great analogy to what it could be like, if only we all thought about what we are actually doing. snaps to you!!

Let's hope it doesn't come to this. If there is a nuclear holocaust, it may well be Bush's fault. Nations are choosing sides and he is making many enemies. It could happen. It would probably be Bush who pushes the button first.

But I thought that is what most people consider themselves to be already... WORMS... made of the dust of the earth... lowly creatures not worthy to as much as have a mind of their own. But damned if they can't immediately profess to know the WILL of GOD. Crazy that eh? Your write is quite provocative.

    Very good indeed.

Yes he does indeed have some interesting metaphors and my impression is that it is indeed the period of time when Christ comes back. The reference to the term Wormwood in the bible, also the name for the meteor that is alleged to be the doomsday meteor.

    Good write

Interesting sybolism and metaphors. Worms mind you bugs and worms we struggle, entwined. Yep, that is the human race. Good write, thank you for the read.

    Interesting, Well Written

Very interesting, Ellis; though I suspect the message is a lot deeper than at first glance: rather reminds me of earth's condition after Christ takes us up to the sure safe haven of heaven. And, as usual, you've crafted another very fine piece of writing: you will not that I refuse to give Tiki the credit for such talent.

    Love and hugs, B♥nnieQ

I would not say this is so much imagination but a vision of the world after Christ has come back and all is said and done.
This really is a powerful write.. if one chooses to really read between the lines. Blessings. Debby

Your imagination has burrowed deep into the ground into the mind of a worm. I love how you take the perspective of not only humans, but of animals too! You have used wonderful imagery, and surprised me with your free verse! Free verse is awesome though! Keep up the great work and keep writing!
