Sometimes all you need to do is
scream
and scream
and scream
until the blood stops moving
until the man goes away
Sometimes all you need to do is
scream
and never
ever
admit
that you liked the way you drained
Sometimes all you need to do is
scream
and wonder why
you don’t flinch whenever he sucks you
why you’re accustomed to the feel
Sometimes all you need to do is
scream
and hold on tight
so the teeth don’t break their hold
on your meek, compliant vein
And sometimes
all you need
all you’ll ever need
is for you to scream
and him to feed
for you to weep
and him to rend
for you to bleed
and him to prick
for you to cry
and him to smirk
for you to care
and him to sink
fresh fangs into a willing neck
Sometimes all you need to do is
scream
all you need to do is
scream
all you need to do is
scream
and you’ll wake up
thirteen years a violent dream
in his hands
locked in his head
that started when you fell asleep
a virgin in a wedding bed
Wake and stumble
Wake and crawl
Wake and fumble
Wake and fall
sometimes all you need to do is
scream up to the sky
sometimes all you need to do is
leave before he kills you
Author notes
This piece is inspired by Stephen King's "Rose Madder." If you've never read the book, read it. It's awesome, especially the part about the painting. So so good.
