Little crocus still asleep
In Winter's deep dark earth
Slowly awaiting the stirring
Of springtime's rebirth~
Wake up! Wake Up!
The south wind is calling
The sky's turning blue
And now no snowflakes are falling~
The adults and children are weary
Of wintertime's dark and dreary gloom
They peer from their windows
To see your bright bloom~
Send forth your tiny blossom
And make our hearts sing
Oh we can't wait to see you
First flower and bloom of Spring~
In Winter's deep dark earth
Slowly awaiting the stirring
Of springtime's rebirth~
Wake up! Wake Up!
The south wind is calling
The sky's turning blue
And now no snowflakes are falling~
The adults and children are weary
Of wintertime's dark and dreary gloom
They peer from their windows
To see your bright bloom~
Send forth your tiny blossom
And make our hearts sing
Oh we can't wait to see you
First flower and bloom of Spring~

Blush, such beautiful tones you give. Nice, soothing, warm. Nice to feel that. it's been some time. I have been of my path of destruction and this piece is a beautiful distraction. Thankyou for giving me the honor to read this. (bows, and returns to the shadows)

I'm not really sure what I can say that hasn't already been said but I really liked the imagery going along with it, the little purple flowers peeking up etc. And the very beginning reminded me quite a bit of a song from the Secret Garden that starts off "Clusters of Crocus" on a slightly "down" note, the second stanza I had to re-read because the flow seemed minorly jolted for just a second because the last line seemed almost too long or too short. But otherwise, it was very, very good

a lovely and precious write Susan!!! I can envision the sweet little crocus trying to peer thru the ground to the delight of everyone after a cold, harsh winter...an absolutely beautiful and heart warming write!!! I hope the crocuses appear very soon, I'm ready for spring!!!
-
love it sis
Sis I think it goes more like a song.
A song of renewal, going to sleep in
winter's ground, when frost is gone.
It pops it head out of the ground.
More beautyful then the year before. -
Shaping creating forming more of your works Susan, you have definitely not lost your touch. In fact, it appears a little more angelic in it's aires -tj-

love this one, too
reminds me of a child's round or one of those pleasant old songs you never seem to forget
the peace withing these words is the greatest bit of it
its so clean and simple and pure a piece of poetry -
The crocus are awakening in these rains. I like the crocus for its ability to bloom upon a carpet of white snow.

Wake up, crocus, WAKE UP!!!
Having been feeling well, Sis! Haven't been on-line except for a minute or two. Lovely poem!
Love Ya!

simply beautiful, the way you portrayed it, painted a picture into my mind, the way the winter ends, the storms have passed, the snow not melting anymore, and we sit and await for the first bud to bloom and springtime to be here...well done susan, simply beautiful ~~Jenn

I agree with Danna. Is almost like a nursery rhyme in it's flow.
Prepares us for those first shoots of green. Bulbs opening.
Waiting for the warmth of the sun...so that they may peek thru Winter's deep dark earth.... -
So sweet and soft.. spring is on it's way.. a lovely write.. beautiful

Susan this is lovely, I am thinking you have spring fever lately.
Here in Minnesota spring is a long time away yet. It is a lovely to think about though. Oh that is another one of my favorite flowers. My hubby planted them in our yard.
