Tagically Faithful
Jourdain
She's staring up to you.
Bound to do her duty to you
though the pebbles bite her knees.
The tears roll down her sweet face.
The rain soaks her stained dress,
mingling with the tears shed from her veins.
Her hands are cupped in front of her face.
She's done screaming you name for now,
choosing instead to whimper it under her weak breath.
For half an hour she's at her work.
Work for the one who's constantly let her down
but always takes her back.
She hates you--wipes away her tears with white dust,
crimson razors, and kneeling for the other guys.
But you know she'll always come back so you let her.
She wonders if you care at all.
All those nights she's laid down hugging your absence,
all those kisses you've left on her forhead.
She doesn't question it and drops to her knees everytime.
Choosing to please you, ignoring that deep down-
she loves it too.
But now she's made up her mind.
She'll kneel for you anyday and everyday.
All you do is smile as she says this.
All you do is smile and look for another girl-
another girl to take into your embrace and save from the streets.
And each one will eventually get down before you.
Why? Why after all the pain you've given them?
Why? Why after all the times they've been unfaithful?
Why do you take them back, God?
