Stained with sorrowed spirits
Ruby red pools of mystique
Scarlet is identity
When life is pale and weak
Shrouded in depression
Cochineal now screams out
Eyes begin to tell the world
What the tongue is scared to shout
Though hearts are frozen cold
Shattered glassy eyes still sing
Burning stars trapped in dark
Two stars are held by string
In pure flavours of red
Are two stars in midnight skies
Over a dark life they waltz
Shining through fiery eyes
Even in a charcoal life
Red eyes stand out as proof
Eyes behold what’s really there
And tell nothing but the truth
A candle wax body lingers
In flavours flat and stale
But a burning soul leaps in eyes
Despite the smile fades pale
Here in insipid monotony
In the overcast, pallid grey
Red eyes shout out to the world
What the lips still fear to say

Very strong piece. I like the solid style and the metaphors as well. It has a powerful ending with really brings the point home clearly. Excellent piece!

i really liked that line of a candle wax body lingers, that jumped out at me when reading, a good piece. aye a burning soul, it will dance in the eyes.
