Her eyes fill up with tears
But no one sees her crying
No one wants to
No one wants to see her pain
Hiding behind it all
Knowing what it is like to hurt but be ignored
He wonders why he cannot make her smile
He wonders what the hell he's done to make her this way
"It's not you, baby," she says
But he does not believe
He hears her talking to herself one night
"Sometimes it hurts so bad" she whispers
And all he can do is agree
And he cries the night away
Living as if he has no girlfriend
No companion
Oh, but he does
And it scares him
And it scares her
The pain hes/shes going through
What the hell is there to do?
Why cannot anything fix this?
Why cannot a little love mend things to the way they were?
And she cries
And wonders why his smile just doesn't tingle anymore
She hears herself crying
Inside of her own head
And she thinks
"Why cannot this pass me?"
Her head hangs low
To the floor
His head hangs low
"You know you can tell me anything, honey" he cooes
She simply nods
Yet life goes on in their melancholy state
"Baby? Are you awake?" she asks one cold, winters night
"I'm here," he replies
"I need you," she crawls into his arms and explains
That her...breath... is... drifting...
Away...
Away....
Away.....
He grasps her
Hard
And he does not understand
But he can understand her pain
And suffering
And he takes hold of this feeling they share
And together, they drift
Away...
Away....
Away.....

so....lemme see if i got this right.....two lovers, both equally sad but neither one tells the other, and they what? die in eachothers arms? this is a good poem but i'd like it more if i didn't have to assume the ending but you seem to be a very good writer
