Why should justice hide behind doors?
Let's publicly punish those who break our laws.
Our forebears usually got it right,
handing out punishments in broad daylight.
Some who broke the law knew what to expect.
They deserved to be treated with scant respect.
Stocks and whipping posts, bridle and birch
and all their names read out in church.
Some may say such punishment has had it's day
But at least it was easier to teach that crime doesn't pay.
Author notes
A chance remark overheard in a folk club and the poem almost wrote itself in the next few minutes so that I could recite it the same night!!

You can tell Tiki that it this was only for humans. They should know better. Feline's are excused (the first time
)

Excellent Writing
It is just that Tiki Cat is a sneaky nare-do-well rascal, always in trouble, therefore she clearly wants to avoid punishment, which she knows she is due

A good question. I would tell you if you tell me something about TikiCat and what he/she does not agree about
Jim S -
Yes, this would help
Amen, Brother! TikiCat does not agree with me. I wonder why??

Thanks for spotting that Shahrzad. It's good of you to keep me on my toes.

This is a true great piece dear uncle.I agree with it and wish we come to see a day when there's no more crime in the world.
btw..in the line"Some way say such punishment"...I think you wanted to say "some may say"...is that right?

Thanks for reading and writing.

I totaly agree with you. Crime never pays in any way. That should be humilated before the public. Espically if they had done something really awful. I like your picture by the way.
