A’Sheumais Ban, mo chridhe (lullaby)

The gentle waves on Barra’s shore
The coral beach of Skye
The breeze that kisses Aonach Mor
And Alba’s pine trees high
The splash of otters at their play
Are gifts to you from me
Along with sunshine all the day
A’Sheumais Ban mo chridhe

The softest plaid from Applecross
A spoon of Atholl brose
A sprig of heather from the moss
A kiss upon your nose
A song to speed you on your way
Are gifts to you from me
Along with sunshine all the day
A’Sheumais Ban mo chridhe

The smile that greets the morning light
The joy that’s in your eye
Your smallest crying in the night
Your sleeping by-and-by
These things mean more than I can say
They’re gifts from you to me
Along with sunshine all the day
A’Sheumais Ban mo chridhe

Beautifully written and a joy to read ..in fact it was an experience as the picture you painted was so delicately done. A history lesson for me and I will have to dust off my dictionary but what nicer reason.??

    You wash my eyes
    with tears I fear
    from joy and pain
    imagining wee babes again.

    This mum knows that
    brightness may turn black
    she loves still nonetheless
    Liadan is the best.

    Last year her innocent
    to Paradise was sent
    and by Glory be
    now James comforts she.

    Thanks for the write
    from your heart polite
