You have searched and You have known
Every single thought I own;
Even every little word
I have said, O Lord, You've heard.
There is no place I can hide-
Omnipresent, You abide
Up in heaven, down in hell,
To the uttermost I dwell.
You have formed and fashioned me,
Wrought with curiosity;
Though my members were undone,
You have written every one.
More in number than the sand,
You would have me understand,
Even while awake with Thee,
Are the thoughts You think toward me.
Keep me, Lord, from bloody men,
Those that take Thy name in vain;
Enemies I have abhorred
That would rise against Thee, Lord.
Lastly, Lord, please search my heart
And cut out each wicked part
That You find in me, I pray;
Lead me in Thy perfect way.

Author notes
I was reading Psalm 139 this morning, and verse eighteen stuck out a little more than usual. It says that God's thoughts toward us are "more in number than the sand"...
It got me to thinking about how much I think about Him during the day... definitely not as much as He thinks of me!
So, I started a little poem, based on that verse... And, well, the rest just came!

Well, praise Jesus!
I'm thankful that this was an encouragement- I will be praying for you! -
I think I needed to read this this morning... to be reminded that I am still in His thoughts and that He still cares about me... even though I fail Him... He doesn't fail me...
This is the encouragement that I needed to today... as I face this crisis of faith that I now find myself facing... to simply continue to believe in Him ( can now say that all will be well)... it's good to know that He thinks of me.. and that I am ever in His thoughts...
Thank you so much for this... God bless you. ~Melissa -
Ah! One of my favorite Psalms. I even have a reference to it on my Author's Page.
This is a great write. Much of that Psalm is referred to here, and your turning it into a poem shows how well you can write. It's not easy to do a rhyme, and make it clear as to what one is referring to, especially a well know poem as the Psalm referred to here. I knew right away which part of the Psalm you are expressing yourself here.
As I read I was reminded of a poem I also wrote on the same subject when I first joined AP. Here is the link:
