Oh Great Spirit (my prayer)

OH GREAT SPIRIT

With your feet, humbly I walk
In spirit, I use your limbs
to carry forth your body.

For me, your mind thinks
Your voice speaks through me
Beauty is before me, leading;
And beauty is behind me,
gently pushing forwards.

Above and below me,
I am surrounded by this beauty.
I am immersed in it.

In my youth, I was aware of it
in my heart.
And in old age, I shall walk softly
in your moccasins.

As your spirit leads me on this path,

my heart fills with the joy of knowing

that all the memories of joy left behind,

Will be kept by the ones who remain

awaiting their turn to join me

in your Heavenly home.

May your presence in their life

make the pain of death,

become blessings of

Peace and Joy!

HAU!

    A good way

to finish my day, reading this. It is good to see how my teacher writes and to see how her spirit lives in her words.

    Just noticed this !!!

As I re-read this prayer, I noticed a peculiar way the words formed the shape of a woman..(to think it took 2 years to see)..LOL..I wrote it in March 2006..makes you wonder, doesn't it?

this morning I said to jean-marc that I will call Spirit-Mother to ask her to perform a prayer-ritual for claude and henri ... and here you are with powerful words that heal all wounds ... what touches me most is that, as much as the tears shed by grieving souls have the same color all over the world, sincere and heartfelt thoughts and prayers have the same unspoken language, when springing from our essence ...

thank you so much for your presence,
    I love you,

    Dear Mom,

I loved this! What a wonderful divine prayer. I felt so close to every word and to you as I read this. How wonderfully well this poem shows that each of us is connected to Spirit. We are all a small part of it. Loved the imagery and flow of this poem. The picture is wonderful too.

    All the best,
    Charishma

SpiritMother, this is such a beautiful prayer to the Great Father. This stanza was so meaningful:

In my youth, I was aware of it
    in my heart.
And in old age, I shall walk softly
    in your moccasins.

May we not forget these teaching, from our youth to our old age. This is a beautiful poem.

    dear spirit mother,
first of all thank you for having answered to my invitation to participate in my contest and to have offered such a beautiful and noble prayer as your contribution.
you remind us through your words that we are not the doers but just humble instruments of the Great Spirit Who thinks, speaks and acts through us.
your simple and graceful words touch me and fill me with tranquility and serenity.
now I feel and know that all is well.
this only happens to me when I listen to Truth.
thank you so much for bringing peace to my mind.

Thank you for the words that grace these eyes, the words that melt the heart of this humble servant whose feet walk the Good Red Road, although they may stumble here and there, they will continue on towards the Blue road of the Spirit world.

O Great Spirit, I have missed Your words! You have come to me in so many forms... and I would bow to them all - and see You around every corner... But it is this manifestation which You present as my Spirit Mother that brings me back to Your Name. Oh, Grandfather! How I long to remember Your voice and feel Your gentle walk within my heart! Oh, Blessed Grandmother! How I long to hear You chanting by the firelight, and to smell the smoke of our Fire and musky odor of the earth on our cheeks. That You have chosen this moment to come to me through this Poet brings me great joy! Let me walk the gentle walk of bare feet in the spring grass... Let me say the kind words with authority and acceptance... Let me not forget Who it is that speaks... O Great Spirit, below, above, and all around... How I love to look out from Your eyes and see the world anew! Thank You for coming to me as a humble Poet with Gentle eyes full of Fire!

    bazillion!

Incredible prayer, you know I love it, I put it up in our community for all to see.

Meanwhile I am seeing a really incredible pattern here sis! It's a beautiful one in my book...everything we share and talk about comes out in your poems. You learn and blossom through your poetry! This is creation, this is you sitting in mother's womb, stretching and growing. There are no words to express well enough how this touches me. I love you! Thank you for the kind words! .... Your perception of my poem(prayer)
was so deep and profound! Not many can see beyond the mere words on paper or comprehend the energy of feelings that are placed behind those words. With every word written, a piece of my inner self goes with it.

May your presence in their life

    make the pain of death,

    become blessings of

    Peace and Joy!

these are such inspirational words , and it shows us that memories that we will have left can be the greatest tool to our accepting that which has happened. We leave behind footsteps for those that come after and those show us....that we are merely a vessel ( yet what we really are in Spirit and Soul)constitutes our whole, our being. Therefore the initial pain and death eventually heals and comfort is ours ...for we know that we are a part of that which was....and that what will be through us ( a continuation of the cycle of life that is eternal)I know that this will help Lyrical to go on in Peace and comfort. Thank you for those wise words to my friend and one that we are all blessed to know and love. Best wishes in this contest,
    reenie
