Losing Myself

I lobbed off sections of my hair
with kitchen scissors,
hoping to find what was left
of myself beneath the strands,

and found myself standing in
a dark pond measuring months past
and moments separated from my mind.

And now I'm sinking deeper
into a dank misery,
the very same I've been
running from for so long.

I'm pulling, pushing, pedaling
to get out of this mess I've made and find
my way back to the person I want to be.

I love the imagery and the flow. I know that I have felt this way before and can relate to it. Great job!

wow this one is very deep, it applies to so many people in our surroundings, sometimes without us even knowing about it. i loved the way you presented your despair as a pond. a pond is something you can drown in unless someone pulls you out in time. i know thats a bit of an exxageration but you get my point great write here and keep it up!

so full of emotions... wonderful use of words and the imagery is just great! the last three lines stood out to me :::

    I'm pulling, pushing, pedaling
to get out of this mess I've made and find
my way back to the person I want to be

and in my opinion gathers and makes the poem what it truly is! great write. well done! hugs :-)

It is a true write; but just on current emotions. I'm not constantly wallowing in my own depression haha. And I did cut my hair short once, on a whim; I think it was a purely emotional action. Thanks for the comment; I'm glad you enjoyed it.
