Peril of the Heart

Today I walk alone …
Not the way it was supposed to be
Yesterday you were here,
Loving, laughing, holding me.
All that I have left
is the quiet of your memory
Your love is gone …
And now I walk alone …
The wind bites at my neck
in places once kissed by your passion
Pieces of my heart whisk away,
fallen like the leaves of autumn
In a whirl wind of loneliness
longing to be whole again
I close my eyes
emptiness is all that remains
You are gone and with it,
your love has walked away
The dreams once shared,
Brilliant and in living color
Now fade into yesterday,
absent of life …No longer my lover
Love is a peril of the heart,
the risk of loss, far from never
Happiness…
the illusion love will last forever
Never to be torn apart,
forever to be tethered.
Tears
of sorrowed moments
stream the face of eternal hope
Your love is gone…
and now
I walk alone.
Now I walk alone…

this one was so very painful to write as it is a true story, however we were able to resolve the relationship issues and we are now married. If you read "Have I told you lately" and you have already read "undeniable" this is about my husband the same "peril of the heart". Thank you so very much for all the time you have spent going thru my work and you are not annoying me,D I find it most endearing that you enjoy my writings.

    a song

Walk on & you'll never walk alone. But so very sadly beautiful poet. That love hard to find & often harder to hold on to. Sweet love where art thou?

there is a saying that goes something like this..if you love it , set it free, if it returns to you, then it is yours to keep...it returned to me...

    How sad

How sad yet beautiful that I can see you in your loneliness, a cool beach, a heart full of emotion and yet so alive as to capture it in words.

I think this is very touching; sad - yet, powerful in its portrayal of the sorrows of tomorrow; of the wispy memories of yesterday. You have penned a wonderful, reflective write filled with great imagery and emotion. I could almost hear it...that's quite a skill you have. Wonderful and full of echoed hopes...but a good job. These lines really grabbed me:

    "The dreams once shared,
    Brilliant and in living color
Now fade into yesterday". ---------> Good luck in the contest!

      As I Think

Thank you so very much for your honest impressions. I think we really learn a lot more from honesty then from that of patronizing one another. A lot of pain went into writing that piece and I still feel it when i read it.
