Oh there is such sweetness here in your dark lips
and the strong taste of life in your running stream
also the scent of a newly-hewn forest
in your clear dew-fall
I feel the stirrings of love in your body
the nakedness of your land yearning for me
pressing ever upwards to become as one
with this tongue of sky
Warmly inviting valley come to the sky
be tenderly met by the sweet kiss of rain
to yield with rejoicing your answering spring
and hidden salt-lick
Cave after cave and your dale’s beloved shrine
all shall be given up to your sky-goddess
I who stoop and take your offering to me
in blessed certainty
Believe that there is danger in my lightning
that it pierces your valley to the utmost
demanding a response from your aquifer
your deep-buried lake
Sigh for my like wind from beyond the mountain
break for me and hear the wing-beat of eagles
struggle to be free from your earthly shackles
to touch Lady Sky
I am here and remain with you for ever
I stretch from your joy of life to your valley
I am the thunder-roll that shakes your dale-sides
you are my echo

What a glorious education you have afforded me! I, a man, am aroused and impressed by so grand a love. --Ellis
