For over fifty years
we've been best buds
from kindergarten until now;
through thick and thin
through good and bad
we've come through it somehow.
Through your divorce
your sickness too
I've helped you all I could;
my hit and run
court case as well
you've always understood.
We saw the Queen
in pouring rain we sat
and would do it all again;
In our front row seats
we shared our like
for Shania, Cher's refrain.
Distance doesn't matter
though we're far apart
cause close we'll always be;
Good pals we've been
for just so long
Best friends always, you and me.
we've been best buds
from kindergarten until now;
through thick and thin
through good and bad
we've come through it somehow.
Through your divorce
your sickness too
I've helped you all I could;
my hit and run
court case as well
you've always understood.
We saw the Queen
in pouring rain we sat
and would do it all again;
In our front row seats
we shared our like
for Shania, Cher's refrain.
Distance doesn't matter
though we're far apart
cause close we'll always be;
Good pals we've been
for just so long
Best friends always, you and me.

I think that's absolutely amazing- to be together with somebody that long, someone who's known you through every stage of life. That's the kind of friendship I long to obtain.
Beautiful write, I loved the rhythm. The entire poem flowed very nicely.

Two thumbs up for this one! Excellent flow
its interesting you would choose this background cause it is almost like a song. Well done, thanks for entering my contest.

This is a very beautiful and descriptive poem about friendship and a wonderful ode to your friend Cheryl. I believe that is what friends are for to stay put through thick and thin, and good and bad. I truly enjoyed the reading of this work and it doesnt matter how far apart you two are it is always good to remember that what hold you close... those wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing this work with us in the contest and for the wonderful gift of your pen. Blessed be, Nena

I really enjoy the themes you come up with and the way each piece is different. I know you use different styles but it is more than that. I guess it is choosing the correct style, or at least the best one possible for what you want to convey. Thanks for sharing your longtime friendship with us. RC

A wonderful poetic accolade to your friendship with Cheryl,spanning five decades of fashion,love and life.Distance may have parted you geographically but not in spirit or wavelength.I have a couple of friends that live hundreds of miles from me from schooldays and they are my chosen sisters,we are family.The bond you speak of would not be broken even if you lived further apart as you appreciate and understand the essence of each other.Thankyou for sharing,love and light,Yvette.

Lucky to have friend like that...a wonderful rhyming poem, though at times it looked contrived (to make the rhyming requirements). I liked it much!

Such a nice poem and good thoughts of this friendship. Fifty years is a long time for a good friend. It is nice to hear that even though you live miles apart, your friendship has never died, that is a true friendship. I too have friends who have moved away but we still stay in contact. Of course it is not as much fun them not being close by, but the friendship never ends.
You have done a nice job with this poem and many can relate.
-
The word 'thought' I believe you are meaning the word 'through' here. A good poem, distance is irrelevant where friendship is concerned.
