I am not young, my eyes they do grow old
I invite twelve friends -- partake my Last Sup
Let’s fight over my writings when I’m cold
A life support machine they hook me up
A journey prepared just to stay alive
On walls, at home, I hang my precious art
The age of Christ when he was crucified
Thirty-three minutes I was with no heart
Inside a silver dome chrome-filled star ship
An angel leans over with eyes blue lake
My chest evidence -- more than just a nip
Twenty-four hours later I awake
A year later, I smile at angels
I’ve been given time -- revisit dale
Author notes
dale name meaning: a river running through a valley
It is also my first name!

An the flight is long.
You write with truth and compassion and Dale is blessed.Angels around you are not yet ready to receive you.It seems you have still a lot of work to do.That time between life and death is fragile fleeting sometimes cheating but also a temporary rest. You have surrounded yourself with all that is meaningful and Christ is looking down on you with love. When I lost my brother to Aids,it was so difficult but his spirit is such that I know he is always with me.Superb.Elizabeth. -
I thought it was interesting that you were writing about a place...but also about you. At the end of the poem you had more time to revist the dale (the river running through a valley) - but also you had been given time to revisit Dale (the person). I liked the imagery - the double meaning that I read into the poem made it very interesting.
