Cheese

I hate seeing pictures of myself. Makes me feel exposed. Ugly. I hate to see them magnified, the power of digital cameras to zoom in my imperfections that run skin-deep(shallow). The marks of years of alienation from people who like whoring themselves for the lights to capture: Tear stains that seem to be engraved on my coarse face; The permanent crease between my eyebrows; The frown that won't go away.  And people ask, are you okay?  And this seems to be an okay state, if okay means my personal equilibrium.  The permanence of this struggle to be happy, to be able to smile real for the camera, maybe for the whole world to see.
