6 thoughts at once&I can’t focus on one

We sit and smile at defeat.
And sing along to an imaginary beat,
Reading our lines from a page,
Knowing everything is but a stage,

We live lives of self destruction.
And world domination,
The quote the people who make no sense at all,
In hopes that we're not just another tear on the wall,

Lights from our eyes shine so dully,
We wonder why when we're so controlling,
We only let some things out in fear of change,
Times up, turn the page.

Lash out over nothing but despair,
Lie to your friends just to keep them there,
Kill yourself to be like them...
When after all, it means nothing in the end...

this is a really interesting use of those two lyrics and a fascinating view on the modern society. "lie to your friends just to keep them there" is a very accurate look at how many modern friendships can be and there's a lot of great ideas in here that are very true of the modern world. best of luck and thanks for following the rules. This is such a fantastic comment on much of modern sociaety and the need for acceptance - wonderfully captured. "The quote the people who make no sense at all," what a fabulous tribute to the soundbyte - excellent, a really marvellous expression of the downside of modern life - well done and good luck, Claire x

wow, this poem speaks strongly to me. and i know it's not what you were talking about in the poem but it reminds me of sight reading music to judges. it's the first time you see the piece of music and you only have one shot and 30 seconds to get it right. it was really a nice piece. i guess this is the kind that can affect a person and get many points of vews from it, and again...very nice. keep up the great work!
