This is so clever. Like in monster in Lilliput. My Gosh, Mari, lizards look like monsters even when they are small. What a wonderful little poem with a big impact!
By, the way, I am a fan of haiku done well, and you are fantastic with it. ~ Karen

One of my alltime Gaze favorites. I read this a long time ago and thought how witty it was...it was one of those times I wished I'd wrote it! Should have won, of it didn't.

    lizard's mutation

This makes me think of a number of things right off, firstly the Godzilla movies, but also a band called Marillion, where in the 80's the lead singer had a fascination for lizard imagery it seemed. On a couple of the album covers, well a few, the imagery was a jester and there was always some kind of lizard too. A great band. They have a different lead singer now but are still a great band.

Perspective I think here. I remember being a child with my little toy soldiers and little toy monsters, and the toy monster battering the toy soliders. The buildings were all in my mind.

    haiku land shakes

Poor haiku land, I hope it recovered, I will send a haiku cheque to help the haiku people get back on their haiku feet.

I am Godzilla. I will tear through the center of Antwerp, ripping down electrical wires and swallowing subway trains. I'll rip apart high rise buildings and crush everything I see...and I'll grab you...and won't ever let go!

I like this one, especially the last line - that is extremely clever, almost a reference to those tiny models in the movies.

Ok, I suck at interpreting haikus...or maybe I am just not a laughing mood right now. Wait, no, I laughed a minute ago...ok, I am confused. Anyways, Mom, I am sure it is lovely, I just don't get it.

A midget's Godzilla? Yep, liked it the first time I read it, like it just as much now. It's quite Yemish actually. I'm a Godzilla fan and no reason a lizard can't have delusions of grandeur!

You could just as easily change the word "lizard" with Yem, and it would still be silly.

it may be a little bit silly but it also has layers to it, which makes it resonate for me. you have a talent for short, crisp images which is a crucial skill in haiku, & a valuable asset in longer poetry.
