Lion and zebra in love

Lion and Zebra in love

They faced a hostile attitude
From others of their species,
Who made remarks that were quite rude
Or pelted them with feces ...

    Humorous and Philosophical

Carries a lot of meaning to me. The title itself is quite unique and the poem, truly thought-provoking. Humorous, but I ses a deep philosophy of life here.

    Many years of wedded bliss,
    striped offspring with golden manes,
the pride grew restless by the day,
    for Gnu just tasted plain.

The seasoned elders held their tongues,
    whilst youngsters in frustration pawed,
Until Jasper succumbed to instintive ways,
on stripped haunch he lay and gnawed.

All hell broke out amongst the clans,
    Gnu's ambled past, hyena's sneered,
for that day had come upon the savannah,
    the one our couple feared.

Questions rang out from kith and kin,
am I prey or hunter strong,
Do i run on legs or chase my kind,
for their flesh i do so long.

The moral here is plainly seen,
    Instinct will have it's way,
Love across species is forbidden fruit,
like Eve she had to pay.

Their kin of course were really bright,
    never ran, as zebras do,
for with betrothal came the pledge,
    All Lions eat only Gnu!

Sorry to hop onto your poem but it's the only thing that has made me feel like writing lately.

I enjoyed the excerpts you emailed to me, thankyou

The Lions would be much better charmers
If the Zebras took of their pyjamas
