probably 1950's

he was a man that had the mind of a child
he probably had a difficult life
probably did the best he could
he probably didn't mind it

he was a man that had the mind of a child
accused of rape that's what they said at the trial
a crime he couldn't commit
and he couldn't fight it

he said "hang man...I'm innocent"

he was taken to the gallows
stripped of all his pride
i guess the judge was yellow and shallow
not to have seen the lies

he said "hang man..I'm innocent"

ten years later discovered the hang man hung the wrong man
well what could they do now?
or what could have he being doing now?

he said "hang man..I'm innocent"

    wow. I like this a lot, was it based on something you read like a news story or did you just imagine the story? Either way it's very good.
