May the flowers of Spring rise in beauty
With the luxuriant verdure of the crystal morn;
May the May flowers droop with blooming,
Colouring depths of white snow 'neath the moon.
The rime of winter mingles with life.
The melodious hymn to the Spring.
Tuneful birds are returned to sleep
Before Spring could all nature keep.
Wait! in my love's cheeks roses are seen,
Laid in the Spring of lovely desire:
Oh, my love's cheeks, and lips, and mien
Have made old Jealous Spring retire.
Author notes
Occasioned by a light snowfall today, after a promising start to Spring. It's the first snow I've seen here in Vancouver since November, been steady rain since. Strange nature.

an exquisite poem full of beautiful descrip
It is 3.48 a m in a cold Liverpool ,English morning and you have added such beauty to my thoughts.Your descriptive skills have led to the writing of an entrancing poem.You have also whetted my appetite and left a need in me to read more of your poetry.The maiden who has roses in her cheeks must truly be delighted to have a poem dedicated to her and to discover that poor old Jealous Spring must needs retire.
p.s. You would be as welcome as the darling buds of may, should you wish to visit my poetry
