Midday (Canoeing Part II)

Midday brings wind to the lake
As the water gently washes the rocky shore
We glide by, observing and singing,
Our paddles beating out a steady rhythm,
Pushing us strongly forward,
Stomachs full from an early lunch
And miles still to go.

Author notes

a while ago i wrote part one of canoeing, and was finally a little inspired to do part two, just a series of short nature poems about a weeklong canoe trip i did last summer.

When I was about 16 (years ago. LOL) I went canoeing with my then boyfriend, now husband of 33 years. He seemed to be a master at rowing until we hit a hidden rock in the little creek, and the canoe tipped over. Even with that it was a fun-filled adventure. I can see everything you've described with these words. This is a refreshing change from the poetry I've read today. Excellent! I will check out Part I if you would be so kind as to send a link. I enjoyed this. I am a lover of the water.

    Much Love,
    Renee
