Unconditional Love of a Dog

Her fuzzy floppy ears pointed to the sky,
My cottonball who always howls at the window
Dirt splashed fur from chasing the rain gutter
Landing in my lap with a diminutive dose of love.
Unmoved by my moods,
She always rubs her furry body against my leg
My feet cleaner, she licks between my toes
Jumps onto the chair
Crawls behind my back
And promptly goes to sleep!

Author notes

The 'child' I'm describing here is our youngest, Szievesen (pronounced See-Vesh-Ehn).  She is such a little lover!

Awe this is so adorable! Dogs are so a man's bestfriend. I know my dog means the world to me and I love her very much. I don't know what I am going to do when she passes away because she does everything with me, and goes everywhere. These are the moments we love about dogs, and you have expressed cute things that dogs are capable of doing. I think this piece is simply amazing and it definately has put a smile on my face. Great job.

There is nothing like the unconditional love of a dog. Mine are my children. They are always glad to see you, miss you when your gone, show love daily and the saddest of all is even if you are not good to them they still love you.
Thank you for reminding everyone how great they are.

    I love your little See-Vesh-Ehn.

I love the topic, dogs. I have one of my own that i show. Great poem too.

I didn't picture this though - Her fuzzy floppy ears pointed to the sky,

If they are floppy how can they point upwards? You might need to chose a more suitable adjective.

    Overall very good!

    Sooooooo Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deborah, I'm sorry it has been a while, I just saw you on line and even though I was about to start greeting stopped here first. I hope you are doing well my dear friend. I absolutely love this write. They do give unconditional love, our four legged friends are friends till the end. Your words gave me such lovely imagery. I was dog sitting for my sister just the other day and she has a little yorkshire terrier.
He likes to lick between your toes too while you sit there.
He slept with me and wouldn't leave my side. Thank you for sharing this work of art with all of us. Love you always my friend, Joyce

I've already told you most of what I think about this poem. However, I think the title you have chosen makes it all more explanatory, that is, what I liked the most about this poem was the way you seemed to smoothly go from the general concept of unconditional love to the concrete subject of a loving dog and so it read like that dog was some kind of personification for all love in the world. However, by adding this title it looks to me a little less good, because it's just like another somewhat well written poem talking about a dog. I thought the title would be better as "unconditional love". An idea that appeals even more to me personally is that you could leave this titleless and start like:
"unconditional love, (or any other puntuation you like)
Her fuzzy floppy ears pointed to the sky,

I do sense a difference between this poem and your first and this one is better. Thank you for your entries.

    ~Diana

I'm sorry to burst the bubble, but this too me is not poetry.I don't wish to sound rude but apart from it being a lovely tribute to probably a more lovely dog, it just reads like a shopping list of good points.I'm truly sorry I have no wish to offend.

In my life time, i have had dogs come and go, but their is only one that i would do anything to get her back. She was a min pin named angel. She would crawl under the blankets and lay next to me as i slept. She was a good friend and i miss her. She had a lot of character. My miniture Angel.

Great poem. I love the imagery that this poem brings forth. Your theme is awsome and it is something that I think many people usually take for granted. Your words were written in a simple, realistic form, and your poem is short. I like these things because your not looking into illusions to write something very, beautiful for a friend that is very real. Good work and God Bless. john

yeah that was a go change... to many works bringing me down and it shows in my own work now... this was sweet...

dogs, yes they love us for no reason they could ever know... sometimes they love too much and it can be annoying... like when you are in a hurry, in and out of the house, and everytime they see you they say with those puppy dog eyes,
"Hey, I love you. Pet me, pet me, pet me."

at least they dont cause drama... they almost releave you of it.. again, sweet write, i truly enjoyed this...
