The bright orange glow
Slowly disappears
Beyond the horizon
Below the earth's boundaries
And the shadows creep in
The night sky
Filled with flecks of light
Dark clouds lingering
Enveloping the moon
Absorbing it's beams
Lightening flashes
Across the blackened sky
Leading trails for resonating crashes
As thunder rolls
From off in the distance
The rains suddenly come
Drops pelting the ground
Night flowers open wide
Cupping the precious droplets
Quenching their need
The sky grows darker
The storm draws closer
Fog consumes the moon's illumination
As the flecks of light quickly fade
Into a non-existence
The rain falls faster, harder
Crackles of lightning increase
And the thunder booms through the air
All life around
Seems to stand still
It is only as I awaken
That I realize the storm
Is my hours of darkness
The thunder- the pounding of my heart
And the rain- the lonely tears I cry

Loved the description of nature and darkness in this piece, and the concluding stanza was nicely done--the personification was beautiful.
I enjoyed this piece very much
