Once upon a time...
There was a bear, his name was Christopher.
Christopher liked to have all kinds of fun with his family and friends. He liked to do magic most of all.
His family and friends would sit around after the family dinner every Saturday night and watch Christopher perform his magical talents. Christopher made a rabbit appear from his magicians hat, and made a dove disappear from it's cage and then reappear a moment later.
Christopher's family and friends would ohhh and ahhhh with amazement and clap after every magic trick.
Everyone would ask every week, "Oh please tell us how you do that trick!"
Christopher would always say, "A magician never reveals his secrets."
One Saturday afternoon, Christopher's cousins Emily and James decided that they would hide in the bushes and watch through Christopher's bedroom window while he practiced his magic tricks so that they too could perform his magic.
Emily and James got into position, but found that they were both too short to peek into the window. James got down on his hands and knees and decided that Emily should stand on his back.
"Oh I can see everything perfectly!" Emily said in a excited tone.
"Ok now we just need to wait for Christopher to come and practice his magic," James said just as excited as Emily.
Just about then they seen Christopher coming up the walkway to the house. James got back down on his hands and knees and Emily quickly climbed upon his back. Christopher seen some movement by the bushes and turned to see Emily climbing on James back. Christopher giggled to himself... "I'll show them!"
Christopher went into his room and put on his magic cape and magicians hat.
Emily started giggling with excitement.
"Be Quiet," James stated "Christopher is going to hear you!"
Emily quieted herself as she watched as Christopher carefully took a key from his cape pocket and unlocked his secret cabinet. Christopher took out special jars with different color liquids. Then he got his magic book out and turned to the page he was looking for. Then he took each jar and opened the lids and poured a little from each one as he continued to read from his book.
Emily is trying to whisper to James as to what is going on. They are both very surprised because Christopher has never performed anything like this on Saturday night.
Then Christopher took out a magic wand and started to wave it over the magic potion and he started to chant magic words from the book.
"As I swirl my magic wand," Christopher started to chant.
Emily's eyes were big and round and her heart started beating so fast. She started to wiggle and wobble on her brother James' back. Steadying herself against the house, Emily heard Christopher say loudly "Alacazam!"
Just as Emily looked back up through the window Christopher was right there in the window and yelled, "BOO!"
Emily toppled and fell backward off her brother's back.
Christopher went to his window and started laughing. "That will teach the two of you! I knew you were there the whole time! I told you over and over again, a magician will never reveal his magical secrets!"
James was laying on the ground next to his sister and the three of them started to laugh and laugh.
Then Christopher had James and Emily come inside and they all sat down to eat some of Aunt June's peach pie. "Ok," said Christopher, "I will show you two how to do one card trick." Smiling at his cousins.
James and Emily sat there for the rest of the afternoon while their cousin Christopher the Great shared a special secret with them.
A moment none of them would ever forget.
