Walking down that road; the path that leads me home. I came across a broken branch that lay amid the road. I tugged and tugged to no avail that branch just would not budge. I leaped; I jumped; I flipped about. Still it lay there still. I tossed; I crept; I closed my eyes. Still it lay there still. Sitting on that broken branch that lay amid the road. Kept me from that beaten path that leads me to my home. I sat;I thought; I wondered why I could not do it alone. Walking past would have meant a failure if I did. Staying there could only mean sweltering in defeat. Walking down that beaten path that takes me from my home. I gathered up my thoughts and searched for someone's hand. Walking down that beaten path that leads me to my home. I found one hand, which turned to two. We came across that broken branch that lay amid the road. We leaped; we crept; we flipped about until that branch was moved. Walking down that road; the path that leads me home. Walking down that beaten path with my friend anew.

Terrific piece in that it conveys to the reader not just frustration or futility, but a pause to think. How do I overcome adversity and find my way around it. Excellent job. You should turn this into a story. Would love to read a more fuller version, it fits in this world.

Thank You!!
Thank you bigcountry for stopping by my "Beaten Path" and leaving your wonderful comment! My home is surrounded by woods and nature trails; It seems I am forever clearing the fallen branches. Once in awhile a friendly neighbor will stop by for a chat, see what I am doing and will set right in to help me! You know you have a friend when they'll break a nail or their back for you! hahahaa Thank you for the visit!! -
